St Peters Harbour Lighthouse Beach
I've had a little extra time lately and the weather has been FABULOUS so I've been going out for drives in MoXy (my little red Miata, yes I name my cars don't judge:) No matter where I go, I am always thinking of lovely backgrounds for portraits when out and about so thought it may be fun to blog a few of them.
St Peters Harbour Lighthouse beach is located near Mount Stewart, about a 25 minute drive from the airport.
I love the calmness of the ocean, the interesting textures and shapes of the old wharf, and the soft cool purple and blue hues late in the day. I also love black and white for certain images to enhance the texture and shapes. It's fun just to go out and photograph anything that catches my eye just for the joy of it. Something I definitely plan to do more of! Click image for full view.
This historic lighthouse was built in 1878 and designed to be able to be moved, which it was several times. The St Peters Harbour Lighthouse Society, a group of local volunteers continue to work together to maintain the lighthouse and it's history. As you can see they are doing an amazing job! This lighthouse was only decommissioned in 2008, which isn't that long ago (in lighthouse years!)
I found this image (on the left) of the lighthouse taken 5 years ago taken by Dennis Jarvis of Halifax, NS.
It was a sunny glorious day but turned windy, cold, dark, and grey as soon as we left! Still it was worth it. Note to self, taking a phone selfie and holding a heavy camera is not easy...thus cropping hubby in half lol.
Lastly some family portrait memories from three years ago. This was before an adorable little sister came along to join this family! I love this family and have photographed them since mom was pregnant with baby number one. This session was a challenge with two active boys, not gonna lie! Good thing I like challenges! They are lucky enough to live in this area and I am thankful that they introduced me to this beautiful place.
I hope to explore more of PEI this year and also dig into a little bit of the history of the places I visit! Thanks for reading!
Until next time!
Louise
