You and me plus baby makes THREE!
It's been a minute since I've shared on my blog, ooops! As they say summer sure did FLY BY! I hope you all had an amazing summer! How is it September already? I have some free time so thought I would share a few sessions from over the summer starting with this gorgeous couple!
When Shanice contacted me to photograph her maternity portraits outdoors I thought of the ideal location. She wanted a few different looks and background scenes so we planned to start at the North Rustico beach for the sandy beach and dunes look, and then would drive about 10 minutes to the red rocks in Cavendish. I typically start evening sessions an hour before sunset for the best light so we planned to meet at 7:30pm with a 9pm sunset. This allowed time to get changed into the gown and travel to the second location while getting that gorgeous golden hour light.
I'm not sure what happened other than they were running late and then got lost trying to find the location, but we didn't start photographing until 8:33pm! I was a bit in panic mode as we could not reschedule this photo shoot between her due date being so close and her husband traveling for work. Once I was down by the beach with the happy couple, sound of the waves and the ocean I was calmly in the zone but working very quickly! We did manage to get more than enough variety, whew! Here's just a few of the many Rustico beach images.

After Rustico beach, we quickly packed up and headed 10 minutes up the road to the red rocks and cliffs in Cavendish. While driving Shanice managed to change into one of my maternity gowns. That takes talent when almost 9 months pregnant don't you think? The sunset was subtle yet beautiful and gave us the perfect silhouette background. Shanice was simply glowing and having the best time posing and beaming radiance. We may have had some help from hubby to get the gown 'blowing' a little :) When it was totally nighttime he was a great assistant positioning my strobe's modelling light to keep that night time feel but illuminate the beautiful Mom to be. I had not planned on doing nighttime maternity photography this particular evening, but I think they turned out pretty awesome if I dare say so myself!
I had such an amazing time photographing these two very happy and excited new parents. Only a few days later they welcomed a beautiful healthy boy into the world. Such a beautiful milestone in life to remember with professional maternity portraits.
I may keep you in the back of mind for any future modelling requirements I may have! You guys were so awesome to work with!
I wish you both all the best as you enter parenthood!
